    Description:

Physical activity is often considered the “calorie-out” part of the equation of calorie balance. With newer anti-obesity medications leading to higher levels of weight reduction, primarily due to changes in caloric intake, some clinicians may be questioning the value of physical activity counseling. In this webinar, we will discuss why physical activity is crucial for health and well-being, especially since the development of newer highly effective anti-obesity medications. Lifestyle Therapeutics in Obesity Medicine Certificate Program

Coaching skills like motivational interviewing are vital to drive true behavior change. In obesity medicine, lifestyle therapeutics is pivotal for patients to have lasting outcomes. By leveraging coaching skills and taking a whole person approach, obesity medicine providers can improve communication, collaboration, care innovation, or most importantly, care by having deeper and more meaningful conversations with patients. The courses in this certificate program will guide learners through evidence-based coaching methods such as motivational interviewing, transtheoretical change models, goal setting, and more that are proven to increase patient engagement, care satisfaction, and ultimately support long-lasting weight loss and management. The skills learned in this certificate program can be used immediately with patients.

*The expiration date listed above is the last day CME/CE credit can be claimed for this specific presentation.

    Description:

Stress and psychological resilience have lost balance due to many daily internal and external factors. Evidence suggests that mental health can impact disordered eating, physical activity, and weight status. Developmental trajectories for obesity from childhood to adulthood continue to rise rapidly. Therefore it is crucial to develop tools to regain control of the mind. It is imperative to recognize that there is a fine line between a stress reaction and mood disorders. When stress becomes difficult to manage on an acute level, it can progress to a chronic state, leading to medical conditions. In this webinar, we will learn how to detangle the Mind- Map and build resilience through various mind-body principles as well as self-care interventions to help manage stress and enhance the quality of life.

    Objectives:

    1. Identify the connection between stress and physical or emotional problems

    2. Utilize the power of positive thinking and use mindfulness to fulfill life's purpose.

    3. Recognize the importance of healthy eating, restorative sleep, and physical activity.

    4. Apply various techniques to elicit the relaxation response, the body's natural stress buffer.
